Fish Stocking Rates

SPECIAL NOTE:

The stocking rates below apply only if your pond or lake does not have an existing fish population. For supplemental stocking rates, please contact a representative at Farleys Arkansas Pondstockers.

The stocking rates below apply only when stocking fingerling fish.

Hybrid Bluegill may be substituted at any time with Redear Bream.

Ornamental Koi may be added to any of the stocking rates below without changing the overall stocking densities.

 

STOCKING RATES - WITH A FEEDING PROGRAM

If you plan to supplement with commercial fish feed, then you may choose from the following three stocking rates.

 

OPTION - A
Channel Catfish
700 per surface acre.
Hybrid Bluegill
500 per surface acre or 1000 if your not stocking Channel Catfish.
Largemouth Bass
100 per surface acre.
Black Crappie
100. per surface acre.
Redear Bream
200 per surface acre, deterrent to worms.
Fathead Minnows
10 cups per surface acre minimum.
Triploid Grass Carp(White Amur)
10 per surface acre, where legal to stock.
Koi-Optional
10 per surface acre.

 

OPTION - B
Hybrid Bluegill
2000 per surface acre.
Redear Bream
200 per surface acre, deterrent to worms.
Fathead Minnows
10 cups per surface acre, minimum.
Triploid Grass Carp(White Amur)
10 per surface acre, where legal to stock.
Koi - Optional

500 per surface acre or 750 if your not stocking Channel Catfish.

100 per surface acre.

10 cups per surface acre, minimum.

GRASS CARP FOR VEGETATION CONTROL:

When stocking Triploid Grass Carp we recommend 10 per surface acre.
Vegetation will always grow more abundantly in clear water ponds. For
this reason we recommend that all spring fed ponds, the Triploid Grass
Carp be stocked at a rate of 15 per acre.


Special Note:

All of the stocking rates listed above apply to ponds that do not have an existing fish population.
