Channel Catfish(ictalurus punctatus). Stocked alone or with other
fish, catfish will survive in almost any condition. Average growth
of this fish is 1 - 1 1/2 LBS per growing season.
ALBINO CATFISH
BLACK CRAPPIE (pomoxis nigromaculatus). These fish need to be stocked in
larger ponds and lakes only. Black Crappie will not reproduce reproduce as much
as the White Crappie and will also reach a larger size Average growth
of the Black Crappie is 1/2 LB per growing season.
LARGEMOUTH BASS(micropterus salmoides). Largemouth Bass are the most sought after fish on the market today. When stocked properly with an adequate supply of Fathead Minnows and Hybrid Bluegill, these fish may grow as much as 3/4 LB to 1 1/2 LBS per season.
REDEAR BREAM(Shellcrackers)(lepomis microlophus). This fish is a member of the sunfish family and is a very popular sportfish for stocking in recreational ponds. The Redears are bottom feeders. They can reach up to 1 1/2-2 LBS at maturity. The Redears should be stocked along with other fish for best results in reproduction control. The Redears also eat snails that cause worms in fish.
HYBRID BLUEGILL (hybrid bluegill x green sunfish)(lepomis macrochirus,lepomis cyanellus)With erver-growing popularitythis fish is the number one stocked fish for sport fishing. Crossed
between a male bluegill and a female green sunfish,this fish will
average 1/2 to 3/4 LBS per growing season. This fish will reproduce
at 90% male so it won't take over your pond like most bream. It will
feed on commercial feed.
TRIPLOID GRASS CARP(White Amur)(ctenopharyngodonidella). Recommended
instead of chemicals, this fish will not reproduce or harm reproduction
of the other fish in the pond. They eat three times their body weight in
in moss and vegetation per day. Ten per surface acre is recommended
to keep moss to a maintained level. This fish is NOT SOLD in states
where legalization has not come into effect.
FATHEAD MINNOW. Recommended for sportfish and catfish when not feeding
a commercial feed. These minnows will only reach three inches in
length and are a top-waterbreeding minnow. This minnow will reproduce
and the lifespan will average fourteen months.
KOI(cyprinus carpio). These fish will actually become your pets after
a few days. The Koi will come up and take a piece of bread or cracker
from your hand.
